Check traffic apps (e.g., Waze, Google Maps) and official PDRM traffic updates to avoid affected roads and reroute in advance.
✅ Avoid Peak Hours
Unless essential, avoid travelling into Kuala Lumpur city centre during the peak closure periods between 8 AM and 8 PM.
✅ Parking Restrictions
Do not park near closed routes. Illegally parked vehicles may be towed immediately if they obstruct traffic.
✅ Follow Police Instructions
Traffic personnel will be stationed throughout affected areas. Follow signage and their instructions for diversions.
Why the Closures?
Malaysia is hosting the 46th ASEAN Summit, a key diplomatic event involving top leaders from Southeast Asia. Road closures are critical to:
-
Escort international delegates and VVIPs
-
Secure designated venues including KLCC, Istana Negara, and KLIA
-
Ensure smooth traffic flow during official movements
Final Thoughts
The ASEAN Summit is a prestigious event that will place Kuala Lumpur in the regional spotlight. While the road closures may cause temporary inconvenience, advance planning, alternative routes, and public transport usage can help reduce disruptions.
