Gamuda Bhd (KL) has successfully secured a significant RM451.4 million contract to construct a data centre in Cyberjaya, marking a notable addition to the company’s expanding project portfolio. This strategic project encompasses comprehensive foundational, civil, structural, and architectural works, reinforcing Gamuda’s standing as a leader in infrastructure development.

Fast-Track Data Centre Project

The awarded contract is considered a “fast-track project” and has been commissioned by BCEI Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Burr Computer Environments Inc. Renowned for its expertise in the planning, design, and construction of IT facilities for numerous Fortune 500 companies, BCEI’s collaboration with Gamuda underscores the project’s scale and technological importance.

According to Gamudaโ€™s filing with Bursa Malaysia, construction is set to commence by December 2024 and is anticipated to be completed by the first quarter of 2026. This timeline aligns with BCEIโ€™s objectives for a swift rollout of cutting-edge data centre facilities, addressing the rising demand for advanced digital infrastructure.

Financial Contribution and Market Response

Gamuda highlighted that the project will begin contributing to its financial performance within the current financial year ending July 31, 2025. The news is expected to bolster investor confidence as the company continues to diversify its project engagements and revenue streams.

Despite this positive development, Gamuda’s shares were observed trading at RM8.49, down by five sen or 0.59%, valuing the company at RM23.95 billion as of the recent noon trading break.
