The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme has been revised, introducing three new categories and relaxing age requirements. The Platinum, Gold, and Silver categories offer various financial prerequisites and benefits for applicants, including opportunities for property purchases, healthcare, and tourism activities.
In a significant development, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac), has announced a relaxation of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme. The update introduces three new categories, expanding the programme’s appeal and accessibility to a wider range of potential participants.
The revised MM2H programme accommodates individuals aged 30 years and above, with the application process exclusively conducted through licensed MM2H agents authorized by the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry under the Tourism Industry Act 1992.
Here is an overview of the newly introduced MM2H categories:
PLATINUM
Under the Platinum category, MM2H applicants must fulfill specific financial prerequisites, including a fixed deposit of RM5 million (approximately USD1.05 million). Notably, applicants are permitted to withdraw up to 50% of this deposit after one year for various purposes, such as purchasing properties valued at RM1.5 million and above, covering healthcare expenses, and participating in tourism activities within Malaysia.
Platinum category participants must commit to residing in Malaysia for a cumulative total of at least 60 days each year. This category is available to individuals aged 30 to 49 years, with residence requirements fulfilled by the principal applicant, their partners, or their dependents.
Additionally, Platinum category MM2H applicants are eligible to apply for Permanent Resident (PR) status after obtaining their Platinum pass.
GOLD
Gold category MM2H applicants are also required to meet specific financial prerequisites, which include a fixed deposit of RM2 million (approximately USD420,800). Similar to the Platinum category, they can withdraw up to 50% of this deposit after one year for various purposes, such as purchasing properties valued at RM750,000 and above, healthcare expenses, and spending on tourism activities.
Participants in the Gold category must maintain a cumulative annual residence of at least 60 days in Malaysia. Individuals aged 30 to 49 years may fulfill residence requirements through the principal applicant, their partners, or their dependents.
The Gold MM2H pass is valid for 15 years, featuring Multiple Entry Visas (MEV) for the principal and dependents, with the possibility of renewal.
SILVER
For the Silver MM2H category, applicants must have a fixed deposit of RM500,000 (approximately USD105,000) as a financial prerequisite. Similar to other categories, they can withdraw up to 50% of this deposit after one year for various purposes, including property purchases valued at RM750,000 and above, healthcare expenses, and tourism activities.
Silver category participants must fulfill an annual cumulative residence requirement of at least 60 days in Malaysia. Individuals aged 30 to 49 years may meet these residency criteria through the principal applicant, their partners, or their dependents.
The Silver MM2H pass is valid for five years, granting Multiple Entry Visas (MEV) to the principal and dependents, with the possibility of renewal.
The MM2H programme’s expansion through these new categories aims to attract a more diverse group of international participants interested in experiencing Malaysia’s unique lifestyle and attractive offerings.
