Lytron Malaysia: The Electric Motorcycle Plant in Ayer Keroh

The establishment of Lytron Malaysiaโ€™s electric motorcycle plant in Ayer Keroh in 2022 signifies a major step towards Melaka’s sustainable future. Managed by M Electric Vehicle Sdn Bhd (MEVB), the plant is dedicated to producing and assembling electric motorcycles under the Lytron brand, with the goal of marketing these vehicles nationwide.

โ€œWe are currently focused on marketing 1,000 units of Lytron electric motorcycles in Melaka first, after receiving approval from the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry,โ€ Ab Rauf explained.

Collaborations with International Partners

In addition, the Chief Minister mentioned plans to encourage Zhejiang Luyuan Electric Vehicle Co Ltd, a key player from China, to expand its investments in Melaka. Through its technology partner, MEVB, the state aims to advance Malaysiaโ€™s EV technology development.

Job Creation for Local Graduates

The electric motorcycle plant is also expected to create job opportunities for local graduates, particularly those with technical and vocational education and training (TVET) backgrounds. This aligns with the stateโ€™s broader strategy to support its youth and enhance local expertise in advanced manufacturing and green technologies.

Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future

As Melaka continues to advance its EV production capabilities, the state is set to play a vital role in Malaysiaโ€™s journey towards sustainable development. By fostering the growth of renewable energy and EV technologies, Melaka is not only positioning itself as a leader in low-carbon mobility but also contributing to the country’s environmental conservation efforts.
