Over 6,600 Local Government Projects Completed Across Malaysia in 2024
The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has announced the successful completion of 6,611 projects nationwide this year, with a combined allocation of RM993.73 million, according to Minister Nga Kor Ming.
These projects include:
- 20 large-scale initiatives
- 3,697 small-scale projects
- 357 stall and kiosk development projects
- One digitalisation initiative for local authorities
As part of Budget 2024, an additional 362 projects were completed, including:
- 87 food stall improvement projects
- 93 drainage and sewerage system upgrades
- 182 flood retention pond maintenance projects
Key Achievements by KPKT in 2024
- New Chinese Villages:
- 2,168 public infrastructure projects completed.
- Six socio-economic development grants implemented.
- Awards and Recognition:
KPKT was acknowledged as the best-performing ministry by the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, receiving the 2024 National Development Award.
Tambun Constituency’s Benefits
The Tambun parliamentary constituency received a significant allocation of RM168.7 million, supporting:
- Local government projects: 55 initiatives worth RM17.02 million.
- Residensi Rakyat Tambun project: Allocated RM149.21 million.
- Rumah Mesra Rakyat: Seven projects costing RM567,948.50 under Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB).
- House repairs and new construction: 34 projects valued at RM734,640.
- Road resurfacing and recreational park upgrades: 10 projects totaling RM1.71 million in new Chinese villages.

Minister Nga emphasized the government’s focus on good governance, cost-saving measures, and ensuring high-impact projects to enhance public well-being.
“With transparency and efficiency, we ensure that funds are spent responsibly, reducing waste and delivering projects that directly benefit the rakyat,” Nga said during a press conference.
