Sunsuria Bhd (KL) has officially launched the Concord College International School Malaysia (CCIS), located in Sunsuria City, Sepang, Selangor. The school is the first of its kind in ASEAN, designed after Concord College in Shropshire, England, an acclaimed day and boarding school.
The establishment of CCIS marks a significant collaboration between Sunsuria Education Sdn Bhd (SESB) and Concord College International Ltd (CCIL), a subsidiary of The Bell Concord Educational Trust Ltd. Following the English National Curriculum, CCIS caters to various academic levels, including Primary School (Years 1-6), Secondary School (Years 7-10), and Sixth Form (A-Level).
The 10-acre campus features a range of modern facilities, including science labs, an art studio, a library, music rooms, and more, located strategically opposite Xiamen University Malaysia. Sunsuria has already announced phase two expansion plans to add boarding facilities for 650 additional students as well as new classrooms and an auditorium, reflecting strong interest in the institution.
Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, Sunsuriaโs executive chairman, expressed pride in this milestone, which he believes will reinforce Sunsuria Cityโs reputation as an education hub. He highlighted that the partnership with Concord College International aims to offer rigorous academic standards with exceptional facilities.
CCIL Chairman Dr. Iain M Bride emphasized the value of this project, which aims to provide Southeast Asian students with access to a British education model. The official launch was attended by approximately 500 guests, including Deputy Minister for Communications Teo Nie Ching and Husna Hamimi Hashim from the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur, who also participated in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony.
Classes began on September 2, with around 200 students enrolled from 11 countries, including Malaysia, China, Korea, the UK, and India. This launch sets the stage for Sunsuriaโs vision of educational growth across Malaysia and the region.
