KLCC Roads to Be Temporarily Closed This Weekend for 2026 MotoGP Season Launch
Several major roads around KLCC will be temporarily closed this weekend to facilitate the 2026 MotoGP Season Launch, with traffic restrictions implemented in stages from 2pm until midnight, according to police.
The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department said the closures are necessary to ensure safety and smooth traffic movement during the international event.
Its chief, ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, said Jalan Ampang will be fully closed, affecting entry and exit routes from Jalan P. Ramlee and Jalan Yap Kwan Seng towards Jalan Mayang.
The entry route from the Jalan P. Ramlee intersection to Jalan Persiaran KLCC will also be closed during the affected period.
“The full closure of Jalan P. Ramlee near KLCC will involve the stretch from the Jalan Ampang intersection to the Jalan Pinang intersection,” he said in a statement.
The affected roads are located within Kuala Lumpur’s central business district, where traffic volumes are typically high, particularly during weekends and evening hours. Motorists travelling around KLCC and Jalan Ampang are expected to experience delays.
Police have advised the public to plan journeys early, use alternative routes, and follow instructions from officers on duty to reduce congestion.
The MotoGP Season Launch is part of efforts to promote Kuala Lumpur as a modern and competitive global destination, with KLCC serving as one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
“The Royal Malaysia Police seeks the public’s cooperation and understanding for any inconvenience caused by the temporary road closures,” Mohd Zamzuri said.
Normal traffic flow is expected to resume after the event concludes and roadblocks are lifted.
