The Pahang government is taking significant steps toward enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region by advancing the Pulau Tioman Airport upgrade project. This pivotal project involves the extension of the airport’s existing runway from 850 meters to an extended length of 1.3 kilometers. The endeavor is set to boost the connectivity and accessibility of Pulau Tioman, a popular tourist destination known for its stunning natural beauty and pristine beaches.

Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff, the State Public Works, Transport, Health, and Local Government Committee chairman, made the announcement during a state assembly session. He revealed that the federal government had given its approval for a substantial allocation of RM47 million to facilitate the airport upgrade, signifying strong support for the enhancement of transportation infrastructure in Pahang.

In response to a query from Datuk Mohd Johari Hussain, who represents BN-Tioman, regarding the status of the Tioman Island airport project, Fakhruddin conveyed that a study is currently underway to determine the airport’s readiness to receive private planes and accommodate direct international flights. This study is being conducted by expert consultants to ensure that the airport’s capabilities align with the region’s evolving transportation needs.

The Pulau Tioman Airport upgrade project holds great promise for improving travel convenience to this picturesque island, known for its breathtaking landscapes, marine biodiversity, and vibrant tourism industry. The extended runway will enable larger aircraft to operate from the airport, potentially opening up opportunities for enhanced connectivity and more extensive tourism offerings.

In a related development, Pahang Unity, Tourism, and Culture Committee chairman, Leong Yu Man, addressed inquiries regarding the location mentioned in the popular anime series “Jujutsu Kaisen.” The anime reference had gained significant attention on social media, prompting the state government to explore its potential as a tourism attraction.

Efforts are currently underway to establish contact with the Japanese side, including seeking approval from the anime’s creator, to pinpoint the exact location mentioned in the series. The goal is to create a designated spot that anime enthusiasts worldwide can visit, offering a unique and immersive experience. This initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to promote tourism and provide diverse attractions that cater to various interests.

These developments reflect Pahang’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and tourism offerings, setting the stage for increased economic activity and tourism growth in the region.
