Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff, the State Public Works, Transport, Health, and Local Government Committee chairman, made the announcement during a state assembly session. He revealed that the federal government had given its approval for a substantial allocation of RM47 million to facilitate the airport upgrade, signifying strong support for the enhancement of transportation infrastructure in Pahang.
In response to a query from Datuk Mohd Johari Hussain, who represents BN-Tioman, regarding the status of the Tioman Island airport project, Fakhruddin conveyed that a study is currently underway to determine the airport’s readiness to receive private planes and accommodate direct international flights. This study is being conducted by expert consultants to ensure that the airport’s capabilities align with the region’s evolving transportation needs.
