The Upin Ipin Theme Park, originally planned for development in Alor Gajah, is now in the final stages of negotiations between popular animation film company Les’ Copaque Production Sdn Bhd and MCorp. Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh stated that negotiations regarding the terms and conditions for utilizing 55.85 hectares of land earmarked for new tourism products in the state are expected to be finalized within two weeks.
Once an agreement is reached, the new tourism product is expected to be realized within the next two years, with the construction cost of the theme park to be borne by Les’ Copaque Production Sdn Bhd. The state government will assist in obtaining permits and facilitate the process to ensure prompt construction work.
Ab Rauf emphasized that the Upin Ipin Theme Park will meet international standards, making it an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign tourists. The construction of the theme park is expected to raise the profile of the Upin Ipin animation among visitors in Melaka and beyond.
The Upin and Ipin Carnival, themed ‘Animasi Kesayangan Keluarga’ (Family Favourite Animation), is expected to attract approximately 300,000 visitors during its three-day run.
The development of the Upin Ipin Theme Park is set to enhance Melaka’s tourism offerings and contribute to its reputation as a tourist destination.
