Cyberview Signs MOUs to Propel Cyberjaya as a Global Technology Hub
Cyberview Sdn Bhd has signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with key partners to advance Cyberjaya’s status as a global technology hub. The agreements were signed with Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB), Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), and digital infrastructure company Equinix Malaysia.
Strategic Partnerships
Chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad emphasized the significance of these collaborations during the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024. The partnerships aim to bolster Cyberjaya’s technological capabilities and create high-income job opportunities in the region.
Semiconductor Sector Enhancement
The MOU with SIDEC focuses on advancing the semiconductor sector by establishing a research and development (R&D) center and a training center for graduates and engineers. Kamarul Ariffin stated, “We want to make Cyberjaya an integrated circuit (IC) design hub for the semiconductor industry. We also want Malaysian graduates or engineers to raise their level to become IC and microchip designers and so on.”
Digital Infrastructure Investment
The collaboration with Equinix Malaysia will enhance Cyberjaya’s appeal as a technology investment destination, with an estimated investment value of approximately RM1 billion. Kamarul Ariffin highlighted the importance of digital infrastructure, stating, “Digital economy requires digital infrastructure such as data centres. This cooperation is also in line with the desire of the state and federal governments to make the country a global technology hub.”
Economic and Employment Impact
These partnerships are expected to significantly contribute to the local economy and create high-paying job opportunities in Cyberjaya. “It is our (Cyberview) desire to create high income employment where we want to make the Cyberjaya area higher in terms of employment compared to other areas in Malaysia and also indirectly contribute to the development of the digital economy and Madani economy,” Kamarul Ariffin said.
