KTMB Unveils KITS Style SuperApp to Revolutionize Public Transport & Urban Living
In a major step toward digital transformation in public mobility, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has officially rebranded its Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) as the KITS Style SuperApp—an all-in-one platform combining transport services, digital payments, lifestyle features, and AI-powered travel planning.
Launched by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, the rebranding signals KTMB’s ambition to offer Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) for Malaysians, combining convenience, technology, and urban living into one smart ecosystem.
More Than Tickets: A Complete Digital Lifestyle Hub
Unlike traditional ticketing apps, KITS Style goes beyond train schedules. The SuperApp offers:
-
ETS, KTM Komuter & Shuttle Tebrau ticket purchases
-
Flight and hotel bookings
-
Bill payments and vehicle insurance renewals
-
Money transfers and online shopping
-
KITS AI Journey Planner for real-time travel optimization
This integration allows users to plan end-to-end journeys, manage lifestyle expenses, and access public and private mobility—all within one app.
Built Through Public-Private Collaboration
The KITS Style app was developed via a strategic partnership between KTMB and ManagePay Systems Bhd (MPay)—at zero cost to the government.
“This is a prime example of a government agency collaborating with the private sector to deliver innovative, large-scale digital solutions,” said Minister Loke.
This approach reflects a broader government goal of promoting smart city initiatives and improving urban quality of life through efficient, cost-effective infrastructure.
Introducing the KITS Style Mastercard Prepaid Card
In a regional first, KTMB will also launch the KITS Style Mastercard Prepaid Card—the first open-loop transit prepaid card issued by a rail operator in Malaysia and ASEAN.
-
Virtual card: Already available within the app
-
Physical card: Rolling out this September
The card can be used for public transport and lifestyle spending across Malaysia and other ASEAN countries—offering secure, seamless, and cashless travel.
Why It Matters to Property Investors and Urban Dwellers
The launch of KITS Style is more than just a transport tech upgrade—it’s a strategic move that enhances the appeal of transit-oriented developments (TODs) and urban mobility in major growth centres like Kuala Lumpur, Klang Valley, and Johor Bahru.
Key Implications:
-
Boost in demand for properties near KTM, ETS, and LRT stations
-
Enhanced rental appeal for units accessible to integrated mobility options
-
Increased adoption of MaaS platforms among working professionals, digital nomads, and commuters
