Toll-Free Travel Across Malaysia for Deepavali: Key Details for Highway Users

In celebration of Deepavali on Oct 31, Malaysia’s Works Ministry has announced toll-free travel nationwide on Oct 29 and 30. This exemption, effective from 12:01 am on Tuesday until 11:59 pm on Wednesday, will benefit Class 1 private vehicles at all toll plazas, except for the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plazas in Johor.

The government will cover the estimated RM38 million cost of this initiative, compensating all highway concession companies. This toll-free period aligns with the principles of the Madani government, which prioritizes public welfare and cost-of-living relief, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

“Highway users are encouraged to plan their trips for a smoother journey and to take this opportunity to celebrate with loved ones,” Nanta added. The Works Ministry, alongside the Malaysian Highway Authority and highway concessionaires, urges all travelers to drive responsibly, adhere to road rules, and prioritize safety by taking breaks when needed.
