Seri Kembangan’s Mines Resort City, renowned as The Mines, is undergoing a significant expansion of its leisure and tourism offerings to entice urban residents. This transformation is driven by factors such as population growth, environmental changes, urbanization, and shifting demographics, as highlighted by Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, the founder and adviser of Country Heights Holdings Bhd.
The Mines has a vibrant lineup of activities planned for this year, including the ‘Malaysia Madani event,’ aimed at attracting more visitors. Situated just a 25-minute drive away from Kuala Lumpur’s city center, The Mines is set to host the event tonight in conjunction with Malaysia’s 66th Merdeka Day celebrations.
Lee Kim Yew expressed his hopes for a widespread and impactful celebration of Merdeka Day this year, emphasizing unity and support for the less fortunate. He urged Malaysians to remember the values promoted by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the nation’s founding father, advocating a harmonious Malaysia that accommodates diversity in race and religion.
The Malaysia Madani event, commencing at 8.30 p.m., features captivating attractions, including a martial arts performance and a contest for the best traditional Merdeka Day outfit. Naveen Sachdev, manager of the Mines Wonderland night market, revealed that over 200 kiosks will offer an array of items ranging from food, drinks, clothes, and household products to toys and souvenirs. The festivities continue with buskers entertaining visitors throughout the night, culminating in midnight fireworks.
Naveen further shared that the national day celebration is just the beginning, as The Mines Resort City has a plethora of activities lined up for the remainder of the year. From its origins as the world’s largest open-cast tin mine, Hong Fatt Mines, The Mines (spanning 1,300 acres) has evolved into a diverse destination housing The Palace of the Golden Horses, The Mines Resort & Golf Club, The Mines Beach Resort & Spa, The Mines Shopping Fair, Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre, The Mines Shopping Centre, The Mines Waterfront Business Park, and Uptown Mines Wonderland. As The Mines continues to grow and diversify, it strives to capture the attention of city-dwellers seeking unique leisure experiences.
