AEON Mall KL Midtown Opens on 5 November 2026 With New Retail and Entertainment Attractions
AEON Mall KL Midtown officially opened to shoppers on 5 November 2026, introducing a new retail, dining and entertainment destination within the KL Metropolis precinct in Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur.
The shopping centre features approximately 367,000 sq ft of net lettable area across eight retail levels, from Lower Ground to Level 5M. Its grand opening is scheduled for 8 January 2027, with additional retailers and attractions expected to open progressively.
Among the opening tenants are Uniqlo, Sushiro, Oriental Kopi, Dolly Dim Sum and Starbucks, alongside AEON Supermarket and several of the retailer’s own lifestyle brands.
The mall also introduces Malaysia’s first VS Challenge, an interactive entertainment concept developed by Japan’s Bandai Namco Experience.
Located opposite the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), AEON Mall KL Midtown forms part of a larger integrated development incorporating offices, residences and Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur.
AEON Mall KL Midtown Introduces Eight Levels of Retail
Unlike conventional shopping centres with predominantly horizontal floor layouts, AEON Mall KL Midtown adopts a vertical retail concept spanning eight levels.
The mall features a different interior design theme across every two floors, creating distinct environments as visitors move through the building.
AEON Supermarket serves as a major everyday shopping anchor, supported by AEON’s in-house brands, including Kids Republic, Home Coordy, Scarlet, Agenda and Galevaent.
Additional outlets include AEON Wellness, Daiso and Molly Fantasy.
Fashion and lifestyle retailers include Uniqlo, HLA, Levi’s, Komehyo and several watch and optical specialists.
Technology shoppers can visit Urban Republic by Switch, Samsung, Honor and Gadget Hub Signature, while beauty and wellness operators include L’Occitane, Lush, Yves Rocher and Yong Kang TCM.
The tenant mix combines daily necessities with lifestyle and leisure offerings, positioning the mall to serve nearby residents, office workers and visitors rather than relying exclusively on weekend shopping traffic.

Sushiro, Oriental Kopi and New Dining Options Open
Dining is a major component of AEON Mall KL Midtown’s opening phase.
Japanese restaurant chain Sushiro joins Malaysian dining operators Oriental Kopi and Dolly Dim Sum, alongside other outlets such as Hot Bird, Chateraise, Donq, Beutea and Chongdee Teahouse.
The food and beverage selection provides choices ranging from quick meals and coffee to casual dining and family gatherings.
Several additional tenants are expected to join the mall in the coming months, including Din Tai Fung, Sephora, Adidas, JD Sports, ASICS and MPH Bookstores.
These future openings will expand the mall’s offering beyond its initial trading phase.
Visitors should note that not every announced retailer was operational on 5 November. Individual store opening dates may differ as the mall progresses towards its January grand opening.
Malaysia’s First VS Challenge Adds an Entertainment Attraction
One of the mall’s more distinctive features is VS Challenge, an interactive entertainment experience brought to Malaysia by AEON Fantasy.
Developed by Bandai Namco Experience in Japan, the concept combines physical activities, interactive challenges and gaming-inspired experiences.
Its opening at AEON Mall KL Midtown marks the attraction’s first Malaysian location.
The entertainment component gives the mall an additional reason to attract families and younger visitors beyond conventional shopping and dining.
AEON also plans seasonal events and promotional activities. Malaysia’s first Sumikko Gurashi pop-up is scheduled to run from 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027.
Meanwhile, the Drive Your Dream shopping promotion runs from 5 November 2026 until 11 February 2027, with eligible shoppers having the opportunity to participate in a vehicle prize draw.
These activities are intended to maintain visitor engagement as more retailers begin operating.
Rooftop Park and Fusion Staircase Shape the Mall Experience
Beyond its retail tenants, AEON Mall KL Midtown incorporates several architectural and recreational features.
The Fusion Staircase connects upper retail levels through a curved communal space designed for gatherings, events and product launches.
Its glass-facing position provides views towards MITEC across Jalan Dutamas, creating a visual connection between the shopping centre and the wider exhibition district.
A 1.5-acre rooftop linear park adds landscaped outdoor space to the development.
The building has also received GreenRE Gold certification, incorporating energy-efficient cooling, rainwater harvesting, water-saving fittings and electric vehicle charging facilities.
Together, these features reflect the mall’s emphasis on combining shopping with communal spaces and environmental considerations.
How to Get to AEON Mall KL Midtown
AEON Mall KL Midtown is located within the 8.95-acre freehold KL Midtown development, part of the wider KL Metropolis district in Dutamas.
The location is accessible by road through major routes including the SPRINT Highway, DUKE, NKVE and Penchala Link.
For public transport users, AEON has introduced its Mobi Connect shuttle service, linking surrounding areas and Sentul Barat MRT station with the mall.
AEON members are entitled to complimentary shuttle rides during the first month of operation.
Future connectivity may improve through the proposed MRT3 station and a planned pedestrian link to MITEC.
However, these proposed connections should not be confused with existing operational infrastructure. Visitors relying on public transport should check current shuttle arrangements and routes.
A New Retail Component for KL Midtown and Dutamas
The opening represents an important milestone for KL Midtown, a mixed-use development undertaken by a joint venture involving Hap Seng Land and TTDI KL Metropolis.
The wider project combines retail facilities with office towers, residential components and Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur, which opened earlier in 2026.
The mall provides an additional everyday amenity for people working or staying within the development, while also serving established neighbourhoods such as Mont Kiara, Sri Hartamas, Dutamas and Segambut.
Its proximity to MITEC may generate opportunities to serve exhibition visitors and business travellers, particularly during major conferences and events.
However, the opening does not automatically establish strong visitor traffic or higher surrounding property values.
Retail performance will depend on tenant occupancy, customer spending, accessibility and the ability to encourage repeat visits.
For the surrounding commercial district, the more immediate benefit is the introduction of a substantial new shopping and dining facility within an area already developing as an integrated business and hospitality destination.
AEON Mall KL Midtown Enters Its Next Opening Phase
With trading commencing on 5 November, AEON Mall KL Midtown has moved from an announced development into an operating shopping destination.
Its vertical retail layout, established tenant brands, interactive entertainment concept and integration with the wider KL Midtown development give it a distinct position within northern Kuala Lumpur’s retail landscape.
The scheduled grand opening on 8 January 2027 will provide another milestone as additional retailers become operational.
For Dutamas and the surrounding Mont Kiara and Hartamas communities, the opening adds a new everyday shopping and leisure option, while supporting KL Metropolis’ gradual development into a more active mixed-use district.
